Australian Citizenship
Service Description
How can I become an Australian citizen? To become an Australian citizen, you must submit a valid application for citizenship. If you currently hold a permanent residency visa and wish to apply through that pathway, you must fulfil the general residency requirement associated with a citizenship application. To meet this requirement, you must have been residing in Australia for a minimum of four years on a valid visa, with at least one year as a permanent resident. During the last four years, you should not have been outside Australia for more than 12 months, and in the year before your application, your total time outside the country should not have exceeded 90 days. A new pathway has been introduced for eligible New Zealand citizens. Starting from 1 July 2023, New Zealanders who have lived in Australia for over 4 years will have the opportunity to directly apply for citizenship without the need for permanent residency. If you require assistance in determining whether you meet the citizenship residence requirement, our team can help you with the calculations. Feel free to reach out for guidance.
